The art of war was deliberately hidden from Chinese people to read for thousands of years. How can a book, merely 100 odd pages became a threat to authority? If you read a lot of conspiracy theories, it may look like one. But it is deeper than conspiracy.
Power
Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Sir John Dalberg-Acton
Why am telling you this? What is common between Sun Tzu and Bitcoin? Power is a dynamic play and it never stays in one place forever. During old times, Kings had powers over their empire and people. As democracy swept across the globe, more and more power goes back to people ( at least that was the vision). In 1917, a revolution led to the first communist government in Russia, and Tzar hanged with his family.
That probably was the first time in human history when human-faced a mass scale dystopia. Communism promised equality, justice, and employment.
All animals are equal but some are more equal than others
George Orwell
It ended up an unequal, injustice police state. North Korea is the last soviet style country left but in the next 50–100 years, totalitarianism might come back with some other name, and this time we might not have better odds to beat them.
Here comes the Bitcoin. There are three types of people, one who understands bitcoin, the second who don’t understand, and the third who misunderstand. I hope I can help you by giving some perspective on why bitcoin and future crypto-currency might save us from dictatorship. For those who don’t understand Bitcoin is not their fault, we don’t expect the average Joe to understand what money is and how it works. This is no coincidence that just like China banned The art of war of thousands of year and we don’t teach about money in our school anywhere in the world!
Those who understand Bitcoin actually understand what I am talking about. Those who have been with the project for a decade are not doing this for money. They don’t care about the price, they care about the purpose.
And then those who don’t understand it. They actually don’t believe we need this technology. And the reason is they are not educated about the importance of decentralized money.
100 years from now
99% of total currency in the US is in digital form. They are just bits stored in some memory. It is not far from here when we won’t have any cash in the system. Your every transaction recorded in some database in some company’s database. If you speak against anything the company, the party, or the government doesn’t like, you will be denied every basic right. Right to vote, right to open a bank account, right to send your kids to school. We surrendered our freedom to those who manage our money.
Bitcoin is here to challenge this dystopian future. When no one holds the money supply, it will be harder for any strong group to force anything on the masses. Bitcoin is a struggle for our freedom, if we lose it, the future could be extremely darker. So next time don’t just judge Bitcoin with its price, judge with its application and use cases.
I will continue to write about cryptocurrency and how it is shaping our future.
